2021 – Quick Facts

Q: What is JAARS and where is it? A: JAARS is a technical support center for Wycliffe Bible Translators. It is located in Waxhaw, North Carolina (approximately 40 minutes south of Charlotte) see www.jaars.org

JAARS mission statement: Our mission is to make Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote and difficult places on earth. We do that by enabling locally appropriate and sustainable solutions in transportation, technology, media, and training.

Who we are? JAARS is a multidisciplinary team of problem-solvers committed to the belief—and the vision—that people’s lives and communities are transformed as they experience God’s Word in their own language. We are a community of full-time missionaries, dedicated volunteers, and a few employees who work together to accomplish the Great Commission goal of providing Scripture to every people group on earth in a language and form they clearly under-stand. We do that by supporting Bible translation and language development partners globally, and by working with prayer and financial partners in the United States to help make a range of unique on-the-field solutions possible. Q: What will we do there? A: We will assist the JAARS staff with one or more projects on their campus. We will not know exactly what we will do until a couple weeks before our trip, but they will take into consideration our team composition and skills when pairing us with an appropriate project(s).

Q: When are we going? A: June 27th (Sunday) through July 3rd (Saturday). Work project is Monday to Friday, so we should arrive Sunday evening and leave the following Saturday morning.

Q: How will we get there? A: We will be driving several vehicles down and back. We appreciate prayer for traveling mercies!

Q: How much will it cost? A: Be on the lookout for more information from the Team Leaders as fundraising is discussed. JAARS has certain set fees for housing, the project, etc. Then there are other costs such as travel and food that need to be estimated. More information will be available soon!

Q: Who all is going? A: Right now we have a committed team of 20 (PTL!) which includes two families with children as well as nine other adults ranging in age from 15 to retired.

Q: How can I support this mission trip? A: PRAY, PRAY, PRAY! There are lots of things to pray about even now, months ahead of our leaving and serving. Please pray for those at JAARS making the decisions about returning to more regular operations as restrictions ease related to COVID. Please pray for the continued planning on our end of things and for good health and safety throughout for the team.

Pray for FLEXIBILITY as we serve together and GRACE to permeate all us.
