We are a colorful tight knit group!
We knit collectively and make afghans for shut ins in our church and people undergoing cancer treatments. We welcome anybody who can knit or crochet and would like to join us. We were meeting in the Church Lobby, which gave us some nice opportunities to fellowship and talk about the Lord, but currently we are knitting from home, but still working on projects.
Hopefully we will return to meeting at church on the on the 4th Friday of each month. But it you are not able to come on Friday evenings but would still like to help us out by knitting squares for afghans. Completed squares can be dropped off at the church office during regular office hours..
Most of the afghans are made up of squares measuring 8 1/2 inches, the width of a piece of copy paper. Crocheted squares that size are also used. Any colors are appreciated and will eventually be used. The Purple Kitty Yarn company provides a Knitting Primer that includes 100 patterns for knitted afghans squares, ranging from beginning knitting to advanced. Worsted weight yarn is most commonly used.
