What to pray

The Spirit intercedes

Prayer has not always been a regular part of my life. I’ve not always been super consistent with how frequently I pray in a day or in a week. Sometimes I also do not know what to pray!

Have you ever tried to pray and really didn’t know what to pray for? I’m sure most of us have, from time to time, found ourselves in this situation. So, it should be very comforting to know that in our weakness the Spirit of God intercedes for us in prayer.

How about when praying for a Christian loved one in a life or death situation, should we pray for a miraculous recovery or for a peaceful passing? Sometime in the weakness of a mixed up emotional state, or a situational lack of faith in God’s Will, the correct pray is not easily found in thoughts or spoken words.

Know that according to the will of God, the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words—When the Christian’s prayers are too deep and too intense for words, when they are rather a sigh from the heart than any formal utterance, then we may know that they are prompted by the Spirit Himself.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Rom 8:26 ESV)

Yes, Prayer is a great refuge in trouble, but we sometimes know not how to pray either in regard, to matter or manner, therefore the Spirit aids us and Scriptures helps us, as it follows when we have the Lord’s Prayer, which contains a perfect rule and summary of all things meant to be prayed for?
