Starting October 21st. This is a new weekly adult Bible Study for men and women to explore the many names (attributes) of God found in the Bible. Please come and invite friends and family to join you.

Back in Biblical times a person’s name usually said something about that person’s character or attribute.  Throughout the Bible, people have given many names to or for God. Sometimes they were given in response to something God had done, other times they were to describe who he is. There are also names God has called himself. How many can we identify with.  Some names are used only once, and others thousands of times. Here is an example of just one of God’s names.

Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)

Only occurs once in Genesis 22:14

Jehovah is actually YHWH (Yahweh) and means Lord and Master. It is the promised and proper name of God. Jireh means to see or provide. When Isaac asked Abraham where the lamb was for the sacrifice, Abraham replied that the Lord would provide. After God provided the ram for the sacrifice Abraham named that place on Mount Moriah Jehovah Jireh, meaning The Lord Will Provide. God is quietly arranging things behind the scenes so that they will be in just the right place exactly when we need them.
