Operation Christmas Child — Shoebox Deadline November 15

Operation Christmas Child boxes and box labels (which you use to identify what age and gender you have selected and includes an envelope to use to donate $7.00 per box to help with shipping costs), are still available in the Narthex. These will be shipped to children all over the world along with a gospel tract in their native language provided by Samaritan’s Purse ministry.

Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, is the world’s largest Christmas outreach of its kind. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to over 124 million children affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, and other crises in more than 150 countries and territories. OCC partners with local churches to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those who receive shoebox gifts and offer a 12-lesson discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, that helps boys and girls learn what it means to follow the Lord and share their faith with others.

The Operation Christmas Child ministry can be an individual effort or can involve the entire family.  Your children and grandchildren are a valuable resource when deciding how to fill the shoe boxes since they are experts for their particular age group.  In addition, their participation teaches and encourages them to become involved in missions at an early age.  You provide guidance as to what items would be honoring to God and appropriate for different cultures.  If you would like more interaction with this ministry, you can go on-line to donate your $7.00 per box, download your label to attach to your box(es), and Samaritan’s Purse will send you an email to let you know where your box(es) were sent so you can specifically pray for that area of the world.

Let’s fill our Narthex with shoe boxes this Christmas season, and send the gospel out to all nations!
