On October 4th and 5th, the LRPCA women gathered at Skycroft Conference Center in Middletown, Maryland for a weekend of learning and fellowship. Among them were women from many other Maryland churches, including Loch Raven’s sister church and partner in the retreat planning, Aisquith.
We were warmly greeted upon arrival by the conference speaker, singer/songwriter and comedian Sue Duffield, who would present throughout the weekend on what it means to “Live out Loud.” From funny stories of her experiences on the road, to reflections on difficult moments in her walk with Christ, Sue’s message came down to what it means to live out our faith, open and unafraid through the good times and the bad. In small discussion groups and throughout the weekend, we were able to share our own thoughts and experiences in an accepting community of our fellow Christian women. And it didn’t hurt that we did that surrounded by gorgeous scenery, filled up by wonderful snacks and meals that we didn’t have to prepare ourselves!
Many thanks to the women’s planning committee for all the hard work that was done to make this retreat possible. We look forward to the next retreat – that is, of course, after a well-deserved rest!
